Obituary

LAKE GEORGE- Raymond N. Barber of Lake George, 99, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2024.

Born December 19, 1924 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late William and Mildred (Wallace) Barber.

Raymond graduated from Glens Falls High School in 1943.

On November 23, 1947 Raymond married the love of his life, Genevieve M. Corsall at St. Joseph's Church in Fort Edward.

He enjoyed taking daily car rides with his wife, reading, and doing crossword puzzles in his spare time. When Ray turned 99, he received over 400 birthday cards wishing him well and for serving his country.

Raymond served his country in the U.S. Army, 294th Artillery division from 1943-1946. He traveled throughout Europe, including Germany and France. And he took part in the Normandy Invasion and liberation and throughout his army career received several medals.

Raymond was a proud member of the VFW Post No. 6169, American Legion Glens Falls Post No. 223 and DAV Saratoga.

Along with his parents, Raymond was predeceased by his son Stephen D. Barber of Conroe, TX and his three brothers, William Barber, Robert Barber and Kenneth Barber.

Survivors include his wife of 76 years, Genevieve (Connie) Barber; his four children, Linda S. (Joe) Baker of Queensbury, Diane L. Barber of Hudson Falls, and David J. (Julie) Barber of Bellingham, WA.; his grandchildren, Kerry (Phil) Marns of Hudson Falls, Matthew Baker (Yana) of Ft. Ann, Wesley Barber of Bellingham WA, Sarah Barber of Bellingham WA, and Justin Barber of Hudson Falls; great-grandchildren, Amanda Mitchell (Matthew) of Glens Falls and Abigail Mitchell (Jacob) of Queensbury, Brandon Baker of Queensbury, Connor Barber-Driver of Bellingham WA; great-great-granddaughter, Oakley Mae Mitchell of Queensbury; Ray is also survived by his two special nieces, Francine Chase of Queensbury and Sandra Lane of S.C..

There will be no calling hours per Raymond's request.
