Obituary

GANSEVOORT – Raymond J. Haas, 84, of Traver Rd., passed away Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016 at his home with his family by his side.

Born on Oct. 2, 1931 in Philadelphia, Penn., he was the son of the late Raymond and Marie (Cullen) Haas.

Proudly, Ray served in the United States Marine Corps, entering in October of 1950, being stationed in Korea, and was honorably discharged October of 1953.

On Aug. 23, 1952 he married Delores Claire Grandjean in Philadelphia, and they shared a wonderful 62 years together.

Ray retired after 35 years at the United States Postal Service South Glens Falls Office. He also spent time employed at Saratoga Harness.

Some of his enjoyments included reading, puzzles and routing for the Philadelphia Eagles.

In addition to his parents, Ray was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, Delores Haas on Aug. 19, 2014, his brother, Ronny Haas, his sisters, Joan and Patsy and his beloved dog, Molly Anne.

Those left to cherish his memory are their four children, Raymond E. Haas, Lynn (husband Richard) Saunders, Joan (husband, Roy) Gordon and Kurt J. (wife, Peggy) Haas; seven grandchildren, Kurt J. Haas II, Morgan R. Haas, Alex S. Haas, Kelli M. Haas, Aaron T. Haas, Richie Saunders and Jacob Saunders; four great-grandchildren, Sadie Williams, Traleigh Williams, Madalyn Haas and Raymond Faggiano; two sisters, Nancy Muth and Linda Brennan; a brother, Richard Haas; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins.

Per Raymond's request there will be no calling hours or funeral service.

Burial with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road.

A gathering, immediately following the interment, will be held at Gansevoort Volunteer Fire Department, 1870 Route 32N, Gansevoort.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the C-5 staff of Albany Medical Center, "you folks are the best." Also to Peggy Haas for her loving care of her father-in-law, and Kurt and Danielle Haas for the endless support.
