Queensbury --- Rena H. Dickinson, 87, formerly of Upper Sherman Avenue, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, November 15, 2017 with her family at her side at Fort Hudson Nursing Center.
Rena was born on August 27, 1930 in Vergennes, Vermont, the daughter of Wayne B. and Madeline (Martin) Holcomb.
Rena attended school in Vt. and New York.
In the 1960's, she worked with her mother, with the help of her sisters, at Palmer's Motel in Lake George for a little summer cash. She also kept house for the Ellmore family in the old neighborhood.
Rena's ambition was to be a good wife and mother, which she accomplished and excelled at.
Besides her busy schedule she had a hand in caring for and raising her grandchildren.
She also watched a myriad of nieces and nephews on occasion and let's not forget the camping trips on the Schroon and Hudson river with brother Dave, Hazel and Susie!
In addition to her parents, Rena was predeceased by her daughter, Donna Clifton VanSlooten; brothers, David and Wayne Jr.; and a sister, Winnie Burch.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Jeff (Annette) of Queensbury; grandsons, Jeffrey (Jean) of Lake Luzerne, Zach (Heidi) of Goshen, N.H., granddaughters, Monica of Argyle, Sarah and Pam Clifton of Duluth Minnesota, and sister, Joan Facto (Roger) of Florida; brother, Larry Holcomb (Bonnie) of Gansevoort, and her backyard buddy, Marie Holcomb; also her nieces and nephews, you know who you are, she loved everyone of you!
At Rena's request, there will be no calling hours or services.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all that work G-Wing at Fort Hudson Nursing Center. "From her aids to the top of the chain… you're the best." ~ The Dickinson Family.
