BRANT LAKE --- Rexford W. Baker, age 70, went to be with the Lord Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 with his family by his side.
Rex was a resident of Brant Lake for years, where he enjoyed his quiet camp in the woods. As a woodsman by trade, Rex had a successful logging business, Gravel Pit, as well as building, owning, and operating The Glen Road Diner on Rte. 28 in Warrensburg. He loved working in the outdoors, with the wildlife, and living in Montana for a few years and logging there.
Rex enjoyed family barbeques, hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his dogs.
In addition to his parents, Rex was predeceased by his daughter, Sandra Gereau.
Rex leaves behind five children, Aaron and Jessica Baker of Brant Lake, Sean Baker of Brant Lake, Judy and Scott Monthany of North Creek, Tamara Baker of Maine, and Montana Baker of Lewis; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four brothers, Tommy and Patty Baker of Florida, Kerry and Aileen Baker of Thurman, Kenny and Ilsa Baker of Bolton, and William Baker of Pottersville; three sisters, Linda Baker of Bolton, Marlene Baker of Chestertown, and Pamela Baker of Glens Falls; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will take place Saturday, Jan. 4, at 2 p.m. at Brant Lake Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Richard Engert officiating.
Friends are invited to join the family for a gathering to celebrate Rex's life, following the service, at Brant Lake Town Hall.
