Crown Point/Greenfield Center. Richard George Stutzenstein of Crown Point and formerly of Greenfield Center, passed away of natural causes in his home, Sunday evening, July 12, 2026, continuing his journey, hand in hand with his wife Helen Stutzenstein, who had recently preceded him.

Born in Rockville Centre, Long Island, May 13, 1941, the son of George and Ida May (Hedrick) Stutzenstein.

Richard will be deeply missed by his siblings Eugene Stutzenstein and Virginia (Stutzenstein) Palmatier, his daughters, Victoria Stutzenstein-Mankad (David), Karen Germond (Daniel), Katherine Girdich (Samuel), and sons Mark (Frances), Scott Gunther and Chris Gunther; his cherished grandchildren, Amanda, Declan, Jessica, Eric, Michael (Liz), Jeffrey, Margaret, and Spencer; and his beloved great-grandchildren Aaliyah, Hailey, Zachary, Jaxson, Cambria, Veronica, Dylan, Brentley, Carter, and Harper all of whom brought immense joy to his life.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Sandra Stutzenstein (Cline), and his beloved sister, Arlene (Stutzenstein) Strader.

After 40 years at International Paper in Corinth, NY, Richard retired as the Supervisor of Number 11 Paper Machine after holding the position of Supervisor of the Instrument Department. Before his career at IP, Richard graduated from Corinth High School.

Richard will be remembered for his annual pig roasts, as a student of history and the Civil War, his appreciation of poetry (in particular The Cremation of Sam McGee), the love of his dogs Fergie and Massey, fifty-years of gentleman farming and making maple syrup in Greenfield, NY, and spending time with Helen and friends enjoying the overlook in Crown Point.

His memory will live on in the hearts and minds of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, friends, former colleagues, lifelong Greenfield community members, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In lieu of Helen’s October 3rd Celebration of Life gathering, the family will hold a mutual memorial ceremony for Richard and Helen on August 1st, 2026 at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette Street, Queensbury, NY. Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a Memorial Service following at 1 p.m.

Visitation for both Richard and his wife, Helen, will be held on saturday, August 1, 2026 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.

A memorial will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
