QUEENSBURY--- Richard W. Hermance Sr., 73, of Dawn Rd., Queensbury, was reunited with his daughter in heaven Friday, April 19, 2013, after an eight year battle with cancer in the comfort of his home.
Born April 4, 1940, in Glens Falls he was the son of the late Harley and Ida (Palmer) Hermance.
Richard attended Glens Falls High School and later worked as a truck driver for several companies, eventually retiring from Ft. Edward Express.
On October 7, 1960 he married Julia M. Perras, whom gave him her undivided attention and the loving care he deserved.
On April 15, 1958, Richard enlisted in the U.S. Navy, was honorably discharged from active duty March 10, 1960, and also honorably discharged from the Naval Reserves April 14, 1991.
Some of his enjoyments included fishing, tinkering with vehicles, and most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of his favorite pastimes was fishing with his grandson Jeffrey on his boat.
Richard was a member of the Navy Seabees, Glens Falls VFW Post No. 2475, Hudson Falls American Legion Post No. 574, and the Marine Corps League of Hudson Falls.
In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by a daughter, Lori A. McFee, a grandson, Hunter W. Hermance, a nephew, James Hermance, and two in-laws, Edwin and Julia Perras.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 52 years, Julia Hermance, a daughter, Susan M. Hermance (fiancé Michael Bell); two sons, Richard W. (Holly) Hermance Jr., and Jody (Tammy) Hermance; a sister, Donna Tucker; two brothers, Harley (Barbra) Hermance, and James (Almira) Hermance; 12 grandchildren, Nikolaus, Sabrina, Jeffrey, Jonathan, Donald, Jody, and Christine Hermance, Shana McCullough, Barbie Monroe, Maranda McFee, Michael T. Sears, and Mikayla Renaud; three great-grandchildren, Urijah, Addison, and Leland; five step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
At his request, there will be no calling hours or funeral.
A future burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Rd., Schuylerville.
