Obituary

 UPDATED SERVICE INFO: Visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804. Burial at 11 a.m. at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville, NY 12871. A celebration of life will immediately follow the burial at the VFW on Luzerne Rd. in Queensbury. All are welcome.


 Queensbury, NY – Richard E. Lee Sr. Peacefully passed away on December 19, 2025, with loved ones at his side.  

  Dick was born on February 20, 1925, in Whitehall, NY the son of the late Holly and Jessie "Jones" Lee.  

  After high school Dick joined the Coast Guard and proudly served from 1943-1946. He then worked for the railroad from 1947-1960 and Finch Pryne 1960-1990.  He married his first wife, Regina "Therrian" Lee in 1950 and together they had 7 children.  

  Dick was a lifetime member and chaplain of the VFW post 6196 in Queensbury and the American Legion post 233 in Glens Falls.  

  He was an avid pilot who owned his own plane, which he enjoyed flying to Maine to fish in the ocean, he played and repaired string instruments, he was an avid fisherman and hunter. He spent many years taking his children fishing and camping at Boras Pond in North Hudson. He rescued and raised greyhound dogs. He also enjoyed driving seniors to their medical appointments.  

  He is survived by his second wife of 55 years, Joyce "Day" Lee and her son, John Shaw, his companion, Betsy Gaulin; children, Linda Parker, Jesie Lee, Laura Lee, Julie Blewin, her husband, Scott, Perry Lee and his wife, Laurie; brothers, Holly Lee, Donald Lee, his wife, Cindy and Robert Lee and his wife, Susan; 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchild, several nephews and nieces.  

  Dick is predeceased by his parents; first wife; sister, Margret Laing; sons, Richard Lee Jr. and Eugene Lee; grandson, Richard Lee; and step grandson, Adam Shaw.
