WARRENSBURG, N.Y. – Robert E. Grace, 82, of Warrensburg, New York, died at his home on Tuesday, June 16, 2015.
Robert was born in Duxbury, Vermont on October 22, 1932, the son of Healy and Helene (Thibault) Grace.
He received his BS in Education from Johnson State College in Johnson, Vermont. After teaching in a two room school house in Grafton, Vermont, he served a tour of duty in Germany in the U.S. Army. After his discharge he accepted a teaching position in Burlington, Vermont where he met Cynthia Cobb. They were married on April 9, 1960 and in that year they moved to New York, first to Schuylerville and then to Warrensburg. He taught in Warrensburg until his retirement in 1987. It was there that they raised their three children, Mark, Thomas, and Debra.
Robert is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Cynthia, and their children, Mark and his wife, Jean (Mitchell) of San Jose, California; Thomas and his wife, Amber (Baker) of Warrensburg; Debra Morris and her husband, John of East Montpelier, Vermont; his brothers, Richard Grace and his wife, Camille, of Carlisle, New York; John Grace of Duxbury, Vermont; Stephen Grace and his wife, Breta, of Moretown, Vermont; his sister, Marjorie Gormel and her husband, Edmund, of Merritt Island, Florida and Duxbury, Vermont; his brother-in-law, Bernard Parizo of Waterbury Center, Vermont; his grandchildren, Jordan Oakden and her husband, Garrett; Haley Grace; TommiLee Grace; Quinn Henson and her husband, William (Hank); George Morris; Robert Morris; Daniel Morris; Patrick Grace; Brian Grace; his great grandchildren, MarlieMae, Cormac and Keaton; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides his parents, Robert was predeceased by his sister, Mary Grace Parizo, and his sister in-law, Mary Piche Grace.
As requested by the family, there will be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, June 22, at 11 a.m. at Saint Andrew's Catholic Church in Waterbury, Vermont with the Rev. Jerome A. Mercure, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Duxbury, Vermont.
A reception will follow the burial at Saint Leo's Parish Hall, at Saint Andrew's Catholic Church in Waterbury, Vermont.
