Obituary

FT. EDWARD --- Robert "Bobby" Lee Dickinson, 60, passed away Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born Aug. 4, 1953 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Ernest and Luella (Mallory) Dickinson.
Bobby and his wife, Linda, recently celebrated their eighteenth wedding anniversary. She always was and will always be his very best friend.
A volunteer fireman for over 28 years, Bobby started in West Glens Falls Fire Dept. and ended as an active member of South Queensbury Dept. Bobby always considered his fellow members as his brothers, sons, and daughters.
He worked for the Glens Falls Water and Sewer Dept. for over twenty years and then Glens Falls Metal Fabrication.
Bobby was an avid fisherman. He loved to tell the story of a special fishing trip he took with his very dear friends and brother-in-law in Florida where he caught a 7 foot long Lemon Shark. Though his happiest trips were those he took with his grandchildren at home, usually found under the Fort Edward bridge.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was predeceased by his brothers, Bud, Thomas, Pat, William, and John; his sister, Diane; and two grandchildren, Colby and Brendan.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; his daughter, Sonya and her husband, David; three sons, Jeremy and his wife, Sandra, Tim and his wife, Christie, and Jamie and his wife, Misty; six brothers, Peanut, Mike, Phylip, Doug, Tim, and Mark; five sisters, Virginia, Sandy, Louise, Rose, and Anita; the joys of his life, his 9 grandchildren, David Jr., Alexandra, Jordon, Cali, Emili, Austin, Jaiden, Noel, and one on the way; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call upon the family Tuesday, Nov. 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 27, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with C. Powel South, NYS Fire Chaplain, officiating.
Procession will follow the service stopping at SQFD, where they will activate their tones and sirens for his "Last Alarm".
Burial will follow at Pine View Cemetery, Quaker Rd., Queensbury.
Friends are invited to join the family for a gathering to celebrate Bobby's life at SQFD following interment.
The family sends special thanks to Saratoga Hospice for their terrific care, his sister, Rose "Georgie", his dear friends, Donna and Sandy for their love and support in his final weeks, his brother-in-law, Earl, for his years of love and support, and his son-in-law, David, for all the laughs he shared in Bobby's final days. Thanks also to Dr. Filion and staff, Dr. Grubbs and Dr. Rassias, Saint Peters Hospital and Glens Falls Cancer Center for their care and time they gave us with Bobby.
There are no words to say how grateful the family is to South Queensbury Fire Dept. for their tremendous support and heartfelt generosity.
