GLENS FALLS --- Robert Orin Nichols, 94, passed away Monday, March 26, 2018 at his home in Glens Falls.
Born April 21, 1923, he was the son of John and Pearl (Hammond) Nichols.
Bob graduated from Lake George High School in 1941.
He married the love of his life, Mary Missita on May 30, 1948, and held hands every day until Mary's death in 1987.
Bob was a very proud veteran of World War II, where he served as a medic in England, and later Germany.
He was a life member of the VFW Post 2475 in Glens Falls and took great joy in spending time there.
His quick wit and sense of humor made for some wonderful stories.
Along with his family, his passion was his Yankees!
In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his wife, Mary; son, David; son-in-in-law, Dan; brothers, Paul, Malcolm, Roger; and a sister, Dorothy Derway.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Nancy Bemis; grandchildren; Aubrey Bemis-Winch (Cody), Elle (Constance), and Anna Bemis; also, his nephew and caregiver, Jack Reynolds; nephew, Bob Reynolds (Michelle); and several other nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will take place Friday, March 30, from 10 am to 12 pm followed by a brief ceremony at 12 pm by Cooper St. V.F.W. Post No. 2475 at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.
A funeral service will follow at 12 pm at the funeral home with the Rev. Engert of High Peaks Hospice.
Interment with military honors, will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, South Glens Falls, at a later date.
The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the devoted caregivers at hospice, also a special thanks to all of the members of the VFW for your constant support; the staff at Rite Aid Pharmacy on Ridge Street in Glens Falls, and Glenn Anderson of Homeward Bound and Meals on Wheels volunteers.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest a donation to the VFW Post 2465, 30 Cooper St., Glens Falls, NY 12801, and High Peaks Hospice, 79 Glenwood Ave 2 nd Floor., Queensbury. NY 12804.
