FORT EDWARD --- Robert F. Purner, 94, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Fort Hudson Nursing Center in Fort Edward, after a long battle with dementia.

Born in Glens Falls, NY on October 24, 1930, he was the son of the late Walter B. and Genevieve (Hart) Purner.

Bob was a graduate of Glens Falls High School. He served in the United States Army in 1952 and 1953 and was honorably discharged.

On April 27, 1957, Bob married Jean Rich in Troy, NY.

Bob retired in 1992 after 30 plus years with the New York State Department of Criminal Justice in Albany.

During retirement, Bob enjoyed spending every January and February in Hollywood, Florida. He enjoyed bowling, swimming, and especially taking long walks. Bob was always willing to give a helping hand to those that needed it.

In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his wife, Jean in 1995; siblings, Walter (Helen) Purner, Dick Purner, Tom Purner, Bill (Jean) Purner, Paul (Diane) Purner, and Mary Kexel; nieces, Diane Manns and Judy Pagano; nephew, Peter Purner; also, many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and cousins.

Survivors include siblings, Elizabeth Pagano, Raymond (Priscilla) Purner, Pat Purner, and Frank (Anne) Purner; sister-in-law, Arline Purner; brother-in-law, Ron Kexel; also, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

Bob's family would like to thank Fort Hudson Nursing Center staff on S-wing for giving amazing care to Bob.

A special thank you to Bob's niece, Nancy Crawford, for all the love and time she gave to Bob over the years.

There will be no public services.

A private burial will be held in the spring.
