Obituary

HUDSON FALLS --- Robert K. Ruge, age 57, a resident of Hudson Falls, NY passed surrounded by family on June 29th, 2022 at Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs, NY after battling a long term illness.
Robert "Bob" Ruge was born January 19th, 1965 in Bayonne, New Jersey. Robert was known as Bob to most, Bobbert to his granddaughter and his nieces and nephews, Bobbo by his stepsons, and Rob to a select few. He was a graduate of Bayonne High School having held up his end of the bargain by showing up every day of his senior year. Bob worked and retired from Gordon Terminal in Bayonne, NJ and was a member of the Teamsters Local Union 641 of Union, New Jersey. Following retirement he relocated to upstate New York and ventured into sole proprietorship creating a business of his own. Shortly after his move upstate Bob also became a member of the Memories On Wheels car club based out of Corinth, NY.
Bob is fondly remembered for his inherently kind and compassionate soul. He had a great love of fishing and boating, most notably for the times he spent with his father going after Shark and Tuna that gave him such joy. Some of his best childhood and family memories were from time spent at the Elco Marina, "Tar" beach fireworks celebrations and the 1976 Bicentennial celebration on the family boat on the East River. Bob spent many hours in the company of his nieces and nephews who will forever remember his good natured humor and the big 'teddy bear' that he was. Never one to judge, Bob was a boon of support for any who needed it and was undeniably charitable, never missing an opportunity to lend a hand or donate to a good cause.
Bob loved to look good when going out, making sure he had his hair parted in just the right way while being hassled by family to 'hurry up,' but you could just as easily find him soaked in sweat from working hard which was a way of life for him. He could be found with one of 3 things in his hand on any given evening, a glass of Franzia Chillable Red, a Coors light, or a giant dill pickle. He was a deft hand at pool, darts, and some other less scrupulous pass times from his youth.
Even just having met you, Bob would treat you like family and many were all the better for knowing him and his loving nature.
