Obituary

QUEENSBURY -- Rodney Lee Burns, 88, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017 at his home.

Born November 5, 1928 in Connersville, Indiana, he was the son of the late Leroy and Odessa (Bacon) Burns.

Rodney was the second oldest of eight children. His siblings Betty, Peggy, Susan, Pat, Sharon, Robert, and David predeceased him.

Rod grew up in Indiana schools and many years with Central Christian Church. He moved with his father to Washington, DC who was working for the government during World War II and later transferred to NJ.

Rodney served as a Corporal in the Army during the Korean War and after discharge he married Doris Lorraine Sherman.

They have four children together, Debbie Hart of Vermont, Bonnie Jones of Virginia, Cindy Burns of New Jersey, and Michael Burns of Queensbury, NY; as well as ten grandchildren living across the United States.

Rod worked for Armo Corporation of NYC for many years and later, Frank A. McBride Corporation of Hawthorne, NJ as a mechanical engineer. Upon his retirement he moved from Oakland, NJ to Queensbury, NY.

He was a member of the Elks in Paramus, NJ and a member of the American Legion over 50 years.

Rod loved hunting, fishing, and boating on Lake George. He also found love in riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

There will be no calling hours.

A private burial with military honors will be held at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
