QUEENSBURY --- Ronald R. Zita, 61, passed away with loved ones by his side, Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
Born November 26, 1960, in Queens, he was the son of Ronald L. and Laurel J. (Gastiger) Zita.
Ronald earned his Associates Degree from Queensborough Community College.
He worked for Heidelberg Eastern for many years.
Ronald married Donna A. Murphy in Queens, New York.
Some of his enjoyments in life were reading and sports. Ronald was a spiritual man of faith who became a religious educator and mentor. He was a volunteer for the Junior Achievement Program for the Queensbury school district where he mentored the youth of his community. Ronald was also a beloved coach for over 45 years in his community. He was the founder of the Junior Hoopers basketball program in Queensbury. Ronald was a strong supporter of local politics. He was a family man and loyal friend who touched the lives of everyone he met.
He was also a member of the Queensbury Elk's Lodge.
In addition to his parents, Ronald L. Zita and Laurel J. Gastiger, he was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Ann Marie Zita, and his beloved dog Rover.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Donna A. Zita; children, Jillian Zita and Matt Zita; step daughter, Marion Behr; grandchildren, Christina Tripp, Gabrielle Behr, and Benjamin Clermont; sister, Lori Mullen and brother-in-law, Jimmy Mullen; brother, Joseph Zita; also nephews, James Mullen, Jayson Mullen, and Justin Mullen.
In loving memory of Ronald, contributions may be made to Department of Development, The Mayo Clinic Covid-19 Research and Clinical Funds, 200 First St. SW, Rochester, MN 55905, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
