Rose Marie
Lazare
Oct 27, 1932 — Jul 13, 2025
LAKE GEORGE – On July 13, 2025, Rose Marie Lazare (nee Vallone), 92, passed peacefully with close family at her side after spending her final days in the loving care and comfort of her daughter Cheryl's home. She was born on October 27, 1932 in Rochester to Peter and Maria Vallone. Losing their father at an early age, Rose and her five siblings quickly learned how to persevere for the well-being of family. In 1954, she married her childhood sweetheart, Joseph, with whom she formed a partnership that would thrive for another 50 years until Joe's passing in 2004. With three kids in tow, Rose and Joe pulled up their stakes and moved to the Albany area in 1968. Rose would then play a central role in building two family businesses – Lazare Lincoln Mercury and Van Schaick Island Marina. Rose's vision and unwavering determination were instrumental in growing these ventures. Nothing, however, was more important to her than family. Rose was a superb chef for whom cooking was more than a hobby – it was a way to bring her loved ones together. Affectionately known as "Roey" by her grandchildren, she was relentlessly supportive of them – through joyful and challenging times alike. Family gatherings at the Slingerlands home would often be topped off by Roey taking on the grandchildren in a spirited game of poker. A Roey Christmas was more than a holiday; it was a cherished tradition marked by lavish eight-course meals, a house she painstakingly transformed with magical décor, and a lifetime of memories. Rose also found great joy in her books, opera, traveling the world, and entertaining her many friends by hosting elaborate, themed dinner parties.
Rose is survived by her three children, Joseph of Arizona, Cheryl (Geof) of Lake George, and Stephen (Mary) of Pleasantville, New York; seven grandchildren, Megan, Kristen, Michael, Nicole, Libby, Alex and Anna; three great-grandchildren, Brooke, Camilla and Miles; two step-grandchildren, Tiani and Allen; her brothers Peter (Kerren) and Ralph (Joan) Vallone; and multiple nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents and husband, Rose was predeceased by her sisters Grace, Sylvia and Sally. The family expresses their heartfelt thanks to High Peaks Hospice and Lisa from the Warren County nursing staff for their compassionate care these last few months.
Roey never parted ways without saying "I love you more."
