SARATOGA SPRINGS – Rose Marie Southworth died November 10, 2024, at Wesley Health Care facility at the age of 78 after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.

Formerly of Brooklyn, NY, Ro was born January 11, 1946, in Butler Township, PA, to the late Dr. C. Robert and Mary Veronica Southworth.

The oldest of six children, Ro was the gentle and generous older sister that helped her siblings find their way through childhood and into adulthood. Her generosity of wisdom, love and support will be greatly missed.

Ro grew up in Salt Point, New York and was an accomplished equestrian and excelled in her academic career.

Ro attended Poughkeepsie Day School and then Our Lady of Lourdes High school.

She went to Ithaca College and graduated in 1968.

Ro's early career was as a public-school teacher, and she was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and taught for a year in England.

Switching careers, she moved to New York City and began her work in the field of human resources. Her career culminated in becoming the VP, Director of Human Resources at Telenext Media, Inc. in New York City.

Ro is survived by her siblings, Diantha Southworth of Wilmington, Delaware, Marjorie Southworth of Hadley, Massachusetts, Ginny Southworth of Aiken, South Carolina, Bob and wife Patty Southworth of Glens Falls, New York, and Dr. Michael Southworth of Wolfeboro, NH.

She is also survived by her nieces, nephews and their families who will cherish her memory and her kindness: nephews, Michael Wilson and wife Caitlyn Ramsburg, Andy Southworth, Chauncey Southworth III and his fiancé Beatrix Evans, Cooper Southworth-Purdy and family Natasha Elizabeth Dubay, daughter Ransley Southworth-Purdy and son Zaydrien Alamed; nieces, Meghan Westcott, her husband, Charles Westcott and son Brayden, Greer Bombardier, her husband, Andrew Bombardier and children, Charlotte, Emily and Wells Stephen Bombardier, Hannah Southworth, her husband, Jonah Bookman and daughter Noa Bookman, Sophie Southworth, and Olivia Southworth and Nico Dandini.

Ro left an impact on others that will be felt for years to come. She was always surrounded by caring colleagues at work and in her personal life. Her friends were a constant source of support and benefited from her willingness to share her humor, her love and her knowledge. "The Fab Five", a group she met in elementary school, remained dear friends throughout her life and were a gift to her as she negotiated the difficulties of her Parkinson's and her declining health.

The family wishes to thank all those wonderful friends, family and the staff at the Wesley Health Care facility that supported Ro through her final days.

Ro loved her family and was instrumental in making sure that the family stayed connected. To honor her the family plans to gather this summer in Maine to celebrate her life and share wonderful memories of a life of generosity and love.
