FORT ANN --- Roy A. Gordon Sr., 73, suddenly passed away with his wife by his side on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
Born August 9, 1952 in Glens Falls, NY he was the son of Roger and Mary (Holt) Gordon.
Roy attended Glens Falls High School. For 36 years, Roy was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, Local 773 out of Glens Falls, NY.
Roy married the love of his life, Joan Gordon on October 2, 1982 in Lake George, NY. They spent the past 40 plus years in the home he built himself. He was a talented craftsman and woodworker who mastered his art as a luthier in retirement. His RAG Mandolins became known throughout the bluegrass community. He built over 100 mandolins, as well as several guitars and fiddles. Roy's love for music and woodworking will forever be alive through his instruments. He was a member of the Adirondack Bluegrass League and attended many bluegrass festivals with his beloved wife, family, and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and making a mess. His greatest joy in life came from spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Roy was predeceased by his brother, Roger Gordon.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joan Gordon; son, Roy Gordon Jr. of Saratoga; daughters, Kristine Parker of Virginia Beach, and Lydia (Mark) Levine of Long Island; grandchildren, Marissa Winch, Michael Taft, Kaleigh Foran, Alexis Miller, Lucas Bentz, Logan Bentz, Celena Danahy, Ryan Danahy, Liana Levine, Jared Levine, and honorary granddaughter, Ashlee Waite; great grandchildren, Lily Miller, Walker Winch, and Wells Winch; sister, Ann Tougas; brothers, Bill Gordon and Ai Gordon; also several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place Thursday, March 5, 2026 at 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804. In honor of Roy, if you have any RAG Mandolins attire, please feel free to wear it.
A funeral service will follow at 5 p.m.
A graveside ceremony will take place Friday, March 6, 2026 at Pine View Cemetery at 11 a.m.
