GLENS FALLS – Ruth Elizabeth Bruno, 87, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at her home with her family by her side.

Born February 16, 1928 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Fenwick A. and Edna (Harrington) Nevens.

Ruth attended Glens Falls High School and later was a telephone operator at Bell, as well as, worked a short time at Sears but was most proud of being a homemaker.

She was an avid swimmer and enjoyed her time in the garden. Ruth also loved animals and had many pets.

July 7, 1947 at St. Mary's Church in Glens Falls, Ruth married her loving husband of 68 years, Peter J. Bruno.

Along with her parents, she is predeceased by her sisters, Patricia Chandler and Jane Dooley; and her brother, William Nevens.

Left to cherish her loving memory are her husband, Peter Bruno Sr.; her children, Rachel (Richard) Favreau of Atlanta Georgia, Daniel (Suzanne) Bruno of Glens Falls, Peter (Christine) Bruno Jr. of Warrensburg, Kathryn (Anthony) Kamburelis of Fort Ann, and David (Tanya) Bruno of Queensbury; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her sister Shirley Zaugg of Indiana; brother Milton "Butch" Nevens of Moreau; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family wishes to send a special thanks to Jody Millington and Nurse Lisa Moron who provided exceptional care during her extended illness.

A funeral service will take place Friday, July 31, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Warren St., Glens Falls, NY.

Burial will immediately follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, South Glens Falls, NY.

Ruth's favorite charity was St. Jude's Children's Hospital, donations may be sent in her memory to Donor Services, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
