Obituary

GLENS FALLS --- Ruth Alice Fitzgerald, 74, of Coolidge Ave., passed away Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015 at Glens Falls Hospital, with her family at her side.

Born Aug. 26, 1940 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of Alfred A. and Margot A. (Hoff) Neilson.

On May 21, 1978, she married Edward Fitzgerald at Redeemer St. John's Lutheran Church in Brooklyn.

Ruth earned her Bachelor of Arts from Hunter College in 1965, and later received her Associates Degree in Applied Science in 1990, graduating Magna Cum Laude.

For many years, Ruth worked in the Warren County Treasurer's Office, most recently as Senior Accounts Clerk. She also worked as a statistician for Shell Oil Company.

Some of her enjoyments included home improvement projects, going to garage sales, researching family ancestry, and gardening. She loved her church, her pets, and above all, spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband.

Those left to cherish her memory are her four sons, Edward, Sean, Owen, and Derek Fitzgerald; six grandchildren, Taylor, Jocilyn, Anthony, Haley, Evan, and Elizabeth; one sister, June Bosley; one brother, Karl Neilson; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as several cats, dogs, fish, and birds over the years.

Calling hours will take place Sunday, Jan. 25, from noon to 2 p.m. at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.

A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Wagner, Pastor of The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd of Glens Falls.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made, in Ruth's memory, to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 543 Glen St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.

Ruth's family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Pastor Wagner, the staff at Glens Falls Hospital, and many family members and friends for everyone's support and care during this most difficult time.
