MINERVA --- Ruth M. (LaPointe) Mitchell, 73, passed away after a brief illness on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Glens Falls Hospital.
Born April 6, 1943 in Glens Falls she was the daughter of Basil K. and Ruth (Jackson) LaPointe.
Ruth graduated from Glens Falls High School.
Over the years she was employed at Basil & Wicks and Fair Haven Inn as a bar maid and was a bus driver for Whitehall School.
In 1977, she married Donald W. Mitchell in Glens Falls.
Interests of Ruth's included backyard parties with friends and family, vacations in Maine, Blue Grass festivals, Yankees, watching ghost adventures, knitting and Monday shopping with her daughter, Christine.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her sister, Nathalie Sharrow; niece, Nikki Ann Martin; and dog, Mocha.
Those left to cherish her memory are husband, Donald Mitchell; children, Victoria Smith (Charles LaCroix), Cheri Smith, Heather (Danny) Woodleif, Christine Smith (Matt Misencik),Christopher Mitchell (Lisa Tricozzi), Pat (Wendy) Mitchell, Kelly Imrie, Stacey (Ted) Fusco; 6 grandchildren, Logan Watson, Kelsey Ann Smith, Lauren Nicole Smith, Brandon Mitchell, Travis Enders, Nick Fusco; 2 brothers-in-law, Dennis Mitchell, William Mitchell; a cousin, Lynda Smith; nephews, Brett Martin, Thomas Martin, Jamie Martin; and her pet dog, Sammy Sue.
Calling hours will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.
A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, January 23 at the funeral home.
Interment will follow after the service and begin at 11 a.m. at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY.
A gathering following services will take place at Bogeys Pub and Grill, in the clubhouse, 31 Cronin Road, Queensbury.
The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Glens Falls Hospital, Kit, Tom, Jamie, Dr. Yun, Debby and oncologist staff, her home health nurse Kelly Bush and neighbors Rodney and Sylvia Tucker.
