Obituary

QUEENSBURY - Sally Ann (Craner) Rhodes, 79, passed away on Tuesday, December 26th, 2017, at the Glens Falls Hospital with family by her side.

Sally was born in Syracuse, New York, on July 12, 1938, and was the fourth of eight children of Rheta (Henderson) and Robert Craner.

Sally was predeceased by her parents, and brother, Jim Craner.

Sally leaves behind siblings, Mary (Nash) Craner (Louie), Robert Craner (Betty), Norman "Stormin" Craner (Rita), David Craner, Peter Craner (Sue), Cathy (Phillips) Craner (Tom). She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Sally graduated Fayetteville- Manlius in 1956. After graduation, she met and married her husband, Loren Rhodes of Glens Falls on December 27, 1958 in the Zion Methodist Church of Manlius, New York. They were married for 59 years before her passing.

Sally and Loren had three children, Betsy Henkel (John) of Queensbury, Raymond Rhodes of New York City, Jennifer Hayes (Jamie) of Queensbury, and a German son, Tobias Behrenbruch of Frankfurt, Germany.

Sally was a graduate of Adirondack Community College with an Associate's Degree in Nursing.

She worked several years as an RN within the local area. In 1982, Sally earned certifications as an obstetric-Gynecologic Nurse Practitioner and worked for Planned Parenthood.

Sally was a wonderful mother and grandmother to her four grandchildren; Cameron (Hayes) Mazza, Queensbury, Elizabeth (Favre) Henkel, Bahrain, Samantha Hayes and Christian Henkel. She was very involved with her grandchildren's activities and interests. The majority of her free time was spent caring for her family. The bonds she created with love will never be broken.

Sally spent several years living in Queensbury and then Sarasota, Florida with her husband.

The last years of her life were spent at The Glen in Queensbury and finally The Pines in Glens Falls.

Sally's family would like to thank the staff at The Glen, the nursing staff at Glens Falls Hospital and Wendy Steinhacker, PA-C from Hudson Headwaters, for their continuous care and compassion.

Calling hours will be held from 3 to 5 p.m., Friday, Jan. 5th, at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.

A memorial service will follow at 5 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. John Chamberlain officiating.

Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to a charity of one's choice.

A graveside service will take place at the convenience of the family.
