Scott Edward
Dobert
Jul 3, 1960 — Aug 21, 2023
QUEENSBURY - Scott Dobert, age 63, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2023, following a wonderful family celebration with a significant amount of cake and a particularly raucous game of "dragons" with his grandson and family.
Scott was in the dairy and food service industry for over 50 years; most would say he was born into it. He could tell anyone where to get the best ice cream, how to perfectly smoke brisket, the best ingredients to cook the ideal meal, and what local restaurants would unsettle even the most ironclad stomachs.
Scott showed his love through sharing food and showing others how much he appreciated their own creations. In fact, people loved to feed Scott wherever he went. For example, in college, when Scott and his then-girlfriend, Kelly, would have an argument, the cafeteria lady would make Scott his own personal cheesecake crafted with love. Kelly was not allowed to have ANY until they made up. Scott found this to be highly amusing.
Scott had a big laugh, a loud voice, and an even bigger personality. He couldn't step outside without running into someone he knew from 50 years ago and swapping hilarious life stories, which usually resulted in extremely long trips to the store. Scott loved singing any and all Disney songs just to make sure they were stuck in everyone's head.
Scott could frequently be found proudly sharing stories of his family, genuinely caring for others, flashing his brilliant smile in greeting, and always with a twinkle in his eye. The twinkle may, in some part, be related to his recent ambition to become Santa.
Those left to cherish his memory and bad dad jokes are: his wife Kelly of 38 years, son Austin (Liz) and their son and Scott's best friend/grandson Milo, daughter Kacey (Justin), Dog-ter Ruby, sisters Sarah (Bob) Wolverton and Suzanne (Larry) Ringer, brother Steven (Lili) Dobert, and numerous nieces and nephews. Scott was loved by many, many more and he will be sorely missed. We sure did love to love you!
Thank you to the numerous responders who treated Scott and family with such compassion.
A special thank you to the entire staff of Irongate Family Practice for your professionalism, efficiency, and constant support. You exemplify what a family practice should be.
