QUEENSBURY – Sharon J. Germain, 73, of Bennett Rd., Queensbury, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at Glens Falls Hospital, from a brief illness, with her beloved husband, Ernest, and family by her side.
Born June 26, 1941, in Glens Falls, Sharon was the daughter of the late Elizabeth McNiel.
Sharon was a secretary and maintained general office work at Medaphis Corporation in Queensbury.
On June 17, 1975 she married Ernest Germain in Waterville, Conn. They spent a wonderful 49 years together.
Her favorite things to do were going shopping and out to lunch. She also enjoyed many weekend travels to Vermont and the occasional trip to Maine to see the ocean and light houses. Sharon could listen to the waves break for hours.
In addition to her mother, Sharon was predeceased by her sister, Joan Taft, her mother and father-in-law, Cecil and Eleanor (Johnson) Germain, her brother-in-law, Howard Germain, a niece, Joanne Rawlings, and two great nephews, Jeremy Rawlings and Steven Taft.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Ernest Germain of Queensbury; her sisters-in-law, Doris (Stuart) Baker of Thurman, Cindy Germain (friend Kenny) of Thurman, and Gail Germain of Thurman; brothers-in-law, Richard Germain of Warrensburg, Francis (Rose) Germain of Thurman, and Glen (Pauline) Germain of Thurman; their niece, Kim (Alfred) Brunelle of Ft. Edward; six nephews, Gregg Taft of Warner Robins, Ga., Michael Taft of Ashburn , Ga., Kevin Taft of Albany, Darryl, Donovin, and Damon Baker all of Thurman; along with many more great nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sharon was very grateful for the care she received from her niece, Kim, and nephews, Alfred and Damon, and their everlasting care of her beloved Ernest.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, from 11 to 11:30 a.m., at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury.
A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Nancy Goff officiating.
Burial will follow at Pine View Cemetery.
The family wishes to send their sincere thanks to the staff and nurses at C.R. Wood Cancer Center, with special mention of Dr. Pillemer and his staff for their continuous and gracious care of their family.
