Obituary

CORINTH --- Sharon Roxanne Good, formerly of South Glens Falls, and most recently of Corinth, passed away on the evening of August 17, 2012, her 69th birthday, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Sharon was born August 17, 1943, in Amsterdam, N.Y., to George and Winnie (Kiniry) Mayes.
After graduation from high school in 1961, Sharon attended St. Bonaventure University in western New York. Inspired by John F. Kennedy's famous quote, "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country," Sharon enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1964 and served two years in Quantico, Va. Following her military service, Sharon returned to this area and worked for over 25 years for General Electric and Scott Paper Company.
Sharon met the love of her life, Adam J. Good, in 1971. Sharon and Adam were married February 27, 1993, and lived most of their 41 years together in South Glens Falls. Sharon and Adam were dedicated to their extended family of brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews, often attending their nieces' and nephews' school and sporting events, and always remembering each one's birthday, anniversary, or any other special day!
Basketball was one of Sharon's favorite sports, and she was a huge fan of March Madness and Jimmer Fredette. Thoroughbred horses were another of Sharon's keen interests, and many happy hours were spent with her sister's horses as well as enjoyable outings with family and friends at Saratoga Race Course. Sharon also enjoyed going to The Peppermill frequently with Adam and Sharie and anyone else who was able to join them.
Sharon was pre-deceased by her parents, George and Winnie Mayes.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Adam J. Good; her sisters, Colleen Combs, Sheila (Ed) Carpenter, Mickey (Rusty) Monroe, all of Warrensburg, Sharie (Jay) Walerstein of Corinth, and Garnet (John) Neve of Queensbury; her nieces and nephews, Sunday (Derrick) Conine, J. Combs, Kristi Carpenter, Bridgette Carpenter, Amanda (Jason) Carpenter, Eddie (Marcy) Carpenter, Michelle (Bill) Morton, Heidi Everts, Darcy Monroe, Jessica, Marissa and Erika Walerstein, and Vallen Mayes; her grandnieces and nephews, Paisley and Winnie Conine, Carter and Quentin Carpenter, Sophora Carpenter, Jacob, Noah and Luke Morton, Tiffany Everts, and Christopher Rozelle.
The past year was very difficult for Sharon, but her struggle was eased considerably by the compassionate care of Sharie, Jay, and their daughters, Jessica, Marissa and Erika in welcoming Sharon and Adam into their home as well as daily nursing care provided by Vallen.
Sharon's family is grateful to Dr. Sponzo, all the nurses and caregivers at C.R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital; Tammy Czajkowski, RN, Karen Buczkowsk, social worker, Brian Gould, chaplain, Lori McDermott, massage therapist, Carol Van Vranken, Reiki practitioner, Donna, Wendy and all the on-call staff of Saratoga Community Hospice as well as Nancy Griffis, LMT, who provided Sharon many hours of comfort each week.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 22, at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY. A funeral Mass for Sharon will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 23, at St. Cecelia's Roman Catholic Church, Main Street, Warrensburg, NY, with the Rev. Paul Cox, officiating. Pallbearers will be Rusty Monroe, Derrick Conine, J. Combs, Rick Tymchyn, Mitchell Tymchyn and Joe Nasr.
Burial will follow at the Southside Cemetery in South Glens Falls.
