Obituary

WILTON --- Shirley M. Duffy, 77, of Wilton, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2013, at the Fort Hudson Nursing Center.
Shirley was born in Bakersfield, VT on January 5, 1936, to her late parents Wayne and Hildred Austin. She graduated from Brigham Academy in 1953 and married her high school sweetheart, Douglas Duffy of Enosburg Falls later that year. Shirley and Doug moved to New York State and lived in Newcomb and Tahawus before settling in Minerva in 1963. They moved to Wilton in 1998.
Shirley worked for many years as an Executive Housekeeper at The Georgian Motel, The Sagamore and the Copperfield Inn. She ended her working career at Walmart in Wilton. Shirley enjoyed traveling, shopping, knitting, reading, watching TV, BINGO, and spending time with her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Duffy, on December 11, 2007. She was also predeceased by her father, Wayne Austin; her mother, Hildred Austin; her brothers, Robert, Lawrence, Elmer, and Reginald Austin; and her sister, Winona Underwood.
Shirley is survived by her four daughters, Donna (Dan) Delor of Ozark, Arkansas; Darlene Duffy (John Williams) of Olmstedville; Ann (Patrick) Hayden of Queensbury; Marcella (George) Flynn of Brant Lake; two brothers, Calvin Austin of Arizona and Wendell Austin of California; nine grandchildren, Fred and Andy Barilli, Angela Smith, Jason and Caroline Kelly, Theresa Fish, and Ben, Christine, and Eric Palmer; two step-grandchildren, Timothy and Megan Flynn, nine great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Private services will be held at the discretion of the family.
Memorial donations may be made to the Minerva Vol. Fire and Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 924, Minerva, NY 12851 or your favorite charity.
The family of Shirley Duffy thanks the entire staff of Fort Hudson Nursing Center for the care they provided over the last two years of Shirley's life, especially the aides and nurses of the Sandy Hill Pavilion.
