QUEENSBURY- Shirley E. Flewelling, 87, of Queensbury, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Glens Falls Hospital.
She was born on April 7, 1936 in Hudson Falls, NY. After attending Hudson Falls High, Shirley worked for Dave Sheridan, helping to pioneer his work on catheter technology in the barn on his 120-acre farm in Argyle, NY. She was very proud to have finished her career as a technician in the Research and Development department for Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals.
She was preceded in death by her parents Cornell and Edith Hall and her sister Joyce Bacon. She was married to Robert LaPoint in 1952 and Joseph Flewelling Jr in 1958.
Shirley had a tremendous love for nature and all things beautiful. She loved to go camping, spend time at the beach, and was tireless in her love for her rock garden and rose garden. As a child she loved to play the piano and was a wonderful artist and ice skater.
Shirley is survived by her brother, Jack Hall, and her six children: Robert LaPoint, Dan LaPoint, Jeanne Wood, Jo Ann McKinstry, Kitty Flewelling and Joseph Flewelling III. Her grandchildren include Shane Whitney, Crystal LaPoint, Scott LaPoint, Janelle LaPoint, Sophia Scaduto, Joseph Flewelling IV, Jade Flewelling, Nicholas Flewelling, Travis Flewelling, Joshua Flewelling, and Isaac Duguay. She is also survived by a growing number of great grandchildren.
A service was held on March 22, 2024 at West Fort Ann United Methodist Church.
