QUEENSBURY --- Shirley Ashley Fogarty, 75, of Queensbury, passed away Monday Aug. 13, at Glens Falls Hospital, following a short illness.
Born April 26, 1937 in Massena, NY, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Emma (Rose) Ashley.
Following graduation from Madrid-Waddington High School in 1954, Shirley was employed at Alcoa in Massena.
In Nov. 1957, she married James H. Fogarty.
After her children entered school, Shirley started her career in data entry at the Fashion Shop in downtown Glens Falls. She continued in this field for 34 years, working as a valued employee for Regional Data Center, now known as McKesson, until the time of her illness.
Over the years, Shirley enjoyed cooking, baking, golf and bowling, earning many bowling trophies in the Pioneer Bowlerettes League at Pine Lanes. Shirley was her grandchildren's number one fan, following them through their recreational and high school athletic accomplishments. Shirley will always be remembered for her generosity of spirit.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 23 years, James Fogarty, and one sister, Patricia Garnett, and one sibling who passed away at birth.
Survivors include one son, Patrick J. Fogarty of Queensbury; her daughter, Kathy Shevlin and her husband, Anthony, of Queensbury; three grandchildren, Daniel, Thomas, and Katelyn Shevlin, all of Queensbury; two sisters, Joan (Richard) DeRushia, and Susan Ashley (Fiancé Don); three brothers, Richard (Alice) Ashley, Kenneth (Tammy) Ashley, and Jack (Pam) Ashley; one Aunt Betty of Massena; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, with special mention of her two dear friends, Kathy and Wayne Fisher.
Friends may call upon the family Thursday, Aug. 16, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury.
A memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joseph Anselment, retired, officiating.
