QUEENSBURY - Shirley A. Gilman, 84, of Fourth Street, Queensbury, passed away Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018 at her home.
Born Nov. 3, 1933 in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Meredith Evans and Alta (Carpenter) Tracey.
Soon after graduating high school, Shirley married the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Gilman on Dec. 12, 1954, who passed away Nov. 14, 2009.
As a proud homemaker, Shirley could be seen following the bus to all the sporting events for her five children.
Some of her enjoyments included spending time with her children and grandchildren, playing BINGO, hockey, feeding her squirrels, camping, reading, roller skating, lunches at Kerrie's Northway Diner, and most of all, her wonderful Monday night dinners.
Shirley was a lifetime member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary 6196, and a lifetime member of the Methodist Church of Hudson Falls.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Robert "Bob" Gilman; her granddaughter, Meghan Gilman; and her brother, Raymond (June) Evans; brother-in-law, Sheridan "Jim" Gilman; and sister-in-law, Janet Corrigan.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Bonnie (John) Ryle, Robert (Jayne) Gilman, Peter (Lorna) Gilman, Cathy (Neil) Gurwitz, and John (Whitney) Gilman; her grandchildren, Jessica Ryle (Andrew Petrie), Ashley Ryle (Andrew Whyte), Rob "Boops" Gilman (Bethany Plummer), Kyle Gilman, Jeromy Gilman, Brian Gilman (Stephanie Bombard), SPC Adam Gurwitz, Ally Gurwitz, and Brooke Gilman; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Calling hours will take place on Thursday, Aug. 23 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.
A funeral service will take place on Friday, Aug. 24 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Flossie Gage Bates officiating.
The family wishes to extend a sincere thanks to Dr. William Tedesco, Dr. Robert Reeves, West Glens Falls Emergency Squad, her Bingo companions, Carol Brown and Lois Chase, and Warren County Sheriff John Bateholts.
