Obituary

Queensbury --- Shirley I. Jarvis, 84, of Queensbury, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 5, 2015.

Born Aug. 8, 1930, she was the daughter of Leon and Louise (Nailor) Deyette and was raised in Hudson Falls.

She attended Hudson Falls High School and worked at Glens Falls Hospital for many years and at The Great Escape in her retirement.

After meeting at U.S. Catheter Shirley married C. John Jarvis Dec. 3, 1950 at St. Mary's Church in Hudson Falls.

Some of her enjoyments included tending to her flower garden, sitting on her front porch, watching NASCAR, and was an avid New York Yankees fan. She enjoyed spending her winters in Florida.

Above all, she loved spending time with her husband and her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by four brothers, Leon, Jack, Alex, and Robert, four sisters, Betty Ann, Joan, Barbara, and Nancy, and a son-in-law, Theodore A. Merril.

Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved spouse of 64 years, C. John Jarvis of Queensbury; four children, Karen Merrill of Long Valley, N.J., John (Phyllis) Jarvis of Glens Falls, Richard Jarvis of Queensbury, and Mark Jarvis of Deltona, Fla.; a special nephew, Stephen Taylor of San Jose, Calif.; six grandchildren, Suzanne Merrill (Tracy Radler) of Ewing, N.J., Lisa (Ron) Kaufman of Boston, Mass., Theodore (Lindsey) Merrill of Randolph, N.J., Douglas Merrill of Long valley, N.J., Amy (Jim) Ryan of Saratoga Springs, and Michael Jarvis of Boynton Beach, Fla.; seven great-grandchildren, Theodore, Josie, Sasha, Jaxie, Canon, Zoe, and Teagan; four sisters, Phyllis Golden, Sandra (Joe) Michaud, Darlene Davis, and Candy (Maurice) St. Marie ; one brother, Tom (Paula) Deyette; her dear friend, Rita (Eastman) Elidrissi; 63 nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.

Calling hours will take place Friday, May 8 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.

A funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home, with Deacon Bill Bazinet officiating.
