Stewart "Stu"
Allen
Mar 16, 1938 — Mar 16, 2017
CHESTERTOWN - Stewart "Stu" Allen, 79, of Chestertown, NY, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Glens Falls Hospital.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, Stu graduated as the valedictorian of his high school class, shortly thereafter marrying his sweetheart Patricia "Pat". He then went on to serve in the U.S. Army, during the Korean conflict, in Germany. After their homecoming they raised two beautiful daughters, Rebecca & Doreen.
Stewart later returned to school and attended Stevens Institute of Technology, earning his degree in Electrical Engineering. He then began his career with the MTA in New York City, where he worked for over twenty years.
It was during this time the family discovered and fell in love with the Adirondacks, going camping whenever possible. They spent most of their vacations at Wakonda Campground, eventually building a home and retiring in Chestertown.
From meeting at a local dance, Stu & Pat's love for dancing together was always evident as they entered and won countless contests. Over the years Stu developed a deep passion for golf and Cronin's Golf Resort became his second home. Here he was made to feel special while always improving his game with the numerous friends he had there.
We would like to express our sincerest gratitude to the Cronin family for enriching his life. We would also like to thank his many friends at Cronin's, Wakonda Campground and his weekly card games for making his life fulfilled.
Stewart is survived by his daughter Doreen and husband Alan, his grandsons Devon and Trevor, sister-in-law Sue, her children Rich and Gina along with several other in-laws, nieces and nephews.
We would like to give a special thank you to Laurel Juckett, his partner in his later years, who stayed with him throughout.
Calling hours will take place Saturday April 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.
