Obituary

QUEENSBURY --- Susan Jane Carpenter, 68, of Queensbury, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014 at Westmount Health Facility after a long illness.

Born March 16, 1946 in Ticonderoga, she was the daughter of the late James E. and Mary E. (Crossman) Carpenter.

Following high school, Sue earned her Registered Nurse's License from Jeanne Manse School of Nursing in Burlington, Vt. She used her license to help give life to newborns in the Snuggery (Special Care Nursery) at Glens Falls Hospital for many years. She absolutely loved babies with all her heart!

Some of her enjoyments included listening to music and playing and watching sports. Sue loved all types of animals.

Sue was a member of The Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation.

In addition to her parents, Sue was predeceased by her Aunt Doris Forcier and a cousin, Michael Forcier.

Survivors include two sisters, Mary Theresa Stewart and her husband, William, of Euless, Tx., and Margaret Elizabeth Carpenter of Ballston Spa (formerly of Queensbury); two brothers, James J. Carpenter and his wife, Aimee, of Darien, Conn., and Peter J. Carpenter and his wife, Lori, of Queensbury; an Uncle Gerald Forcier of Westport, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews, Amanda Lee Reed, India, Evan, Maia, Kyle and Cole Carpenter, and Joseph, Jeffrey, and Michelle Faucher; numerous cousins in N.Y. and Vt.; and many pets, including dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, and fish.

In honor of Sue's wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral.

A graveside service will be conducted Friday, Sept. 19, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Cemetery, South Glens Falls, with the Rev. Joseph Busch, Pastor of Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation, officiating.


Donations, in loving memory of Sue, to an animal rescue organization of your choice, would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Sue's family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Socolof and the staff at Westmount for caring lovingly for Susan during her brief stay there. Also to Tails Wag Inn for their help with Sue's animals.
