QUEENSBURY – Susan L. Levandowski, 78, of Haven Lane, Queensbury passed away Friday, Feb. 24, 2017 at her home with her loving family by her side after a long illness.
Born Feb. 3, 1939 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Elsie (Larson) McGee.
Susan was a graduate from Dean College and Adirondack Community College earning Associates degrees from both, and for many years, was employed as a teaching assistant at Glens Falls Junior Hight School and with B.O.C.E.S.
She served several years on the Queensbury Town Planning Board; was a founding member of Every Women's Council; was a member of The League of Women Voters. More recently, Susan was very active at the Queensbury United Methodist Church and in the Crandall Library Writer's Club until her illness prevented her participation.
Above all, spending time with her family, including her two dogs Clara and Riley, was most important to Susan. She looked forward to the annual family visits to Cape Cod and Ogunquit, Maine creating precious lifetime memories. Watching her grandson in all his sports activities brought her much joy. She was very proud of her family, who will greatly miss her.
Survivors include her loving husband of 54 years, William J. Levandowski; her beloved daughters, Diane Levandowski (James Fenton) and Nancy Levandowski; her cherished grandson, Brady Fenton; one brother, Harold Bartlett McGee (Patricia Ross); and one sister, Sara Knower (Robert); and many loved extended family member and dear friends.
Calling hours will be held Monday, Feb. 27 from 4 to 7 pm at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette Street, Queensbury.
Funeral Services will take place on Tuesday, Feb 28 th at 11 am at the Methodist Church, 460 Aviation Road, Queensbury, with the Rev. Phil Phaneuf officiating.
Burial will follow at Pine View Cemetery, Quaker Road, Queensbury.
Everyone is invited back to the church following the burial for a gathering of food and fellowship.
The family would like to express a special gratitude to Jennifer Mazur of Home Helpers, her long time health aide, and nurse, Phil Pekar from High Peaks Hospice, who both made Susan's care at home possible.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations, in loving memory of Susan, be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern New York.
