SCHENECTADY --- Susan V. Simmons, 70, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022, with loved ones by her side.

Born March 19, 1951, in Little Falls, New York, she was the daughter of John K. and Mary A. (Vickers) Rugge.

Susan earned her bachelor's degree from Ithaca College, and went on to practice as a physical therapist at Ellis Hospital for more than 40 years.

Family, friends, patients, horses, and cats were all at the center of Susie's life.

In addition to her parents, Susan was predeceased by her husband, Frank "Dusty" Simmons.

Those left to cherish her memory include her brother, John Rugge (Queensbury, NY); niece and nephew, Maile Munson (Natick, MA), Bruin Rugge (Portland, OR), and their children; also her companions, Buster B and Woody.

A celebration of Susie's life will be held later in the spring.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to her soul sister, Terri; her best friend, Linda; and her support team of Kay, Pat, Marie, and Dawn.  Deep appreciation also goes to the Fort Hudson Nursing Center for the extraordinary care provided during her final days.
