Obituary

LAKE GEORGE --- It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Tammy L. Smith, loving daughter, mother, sister, grandmother and aunt. She peacefully passed away in the arms of her son, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, May 25, 2026.

Born August 2, 1958, in Lake George, she was the daughter of William and Florence “Bridget” (Jordan) Smith.

Tammy graduated from Lake George High School in 1977. She also earned her certification in office secretarial work from BOCES, which she utilized by working for Nick Buttino, Sr. at the Lake George Opera Festival (formerly of Glens Falls). In 1979, she gave birth to her only child, Jason Andrew Smith, who was her pride and joy. Tammy then worked part time in the Lake George High School cafeteria.

In 1988, she took a position at Lake George Mini Chopper, working in several departments including the deli. Her last position was working as the front-end supervisor until her retirement in 2018. She was affectionately known by many as “the Mayor of Lake George Mini Chopper.” Everyone who lived in Lake George knew her and loved her dearly.

She enjoyed trips to Maine, lighthouses, reading romance novels, playing scratch off tickets with the luck of the Irish, word searches, having her son bring her a Stewarts coffee and good conversation.

Tammy was very proud of her nephew, Zachary Smith and his daughter, Amyah Jade, as well as her two nephews who held a special place in her heart, Cooper and Brody Smith.

In 2022 her son and his wife Chirstina gave her a beautiful granddaughter, Isabella Marie Smith, whom she cherished very dearly.

In addition to her parents, Tammy was predeceased by her sisters, Theresa and Bonnie Smith; brother, Thomas Smith; and niece, Rachel Smith.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Jason (Christina) Smith; granddaughter, Isabella Smith; sisters, Angel (Mervin) Hercules and Diane; brothers, Randy (Lorrie) Smith and John (Erika) Smith; aunt, Margaret “Peggy” Adams; and nephews, Cooper and Brody.
