Obituary

QUEENSBURY – Teresa Ellenora Lanfear, 97, died Saturday, August 29, 2015, at The Stanton Nursing Home in Queensbury.

Teresa was born on July 23, 1918 to devoted parents, Howard Thurman Floyd and Jennie Leucelia (Searles) Floyd, in Glens Falls.

She graduated from Glens Falls High School and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church participating in the choir and teaching Sunday school.

On June 22, 1945, Teresa married her life partner, Alfred John Lanfear of Queensbury. They were happily married for sixty-nine years and enjoyed a life full of adventures and  outdoor activities. She was navigator, co-pilot, and cook extraordinaire.

She enjoyed birdwatching, documenting many sightings and loved to have friends gather at the organ to sing carols. Her genealogy work is invaluable to the family today.

In addition to her parents, Teresa was predeceased by her husband, Alfred J. Lanfear, and a brother, Howard Oscar Floyd.

Teresa is survived by the family of her late brother, Howard Oscar Floyd, whose mother, Pearl Hilda (Pratt) Floyd was a loving second mother to Teresa after she lost her mother at a young age. The family includes Howard's wife, Alice J. Floyd of Madison, Conn., Martha J. Cosgrove, and husband David, of Haddam, Conn., Edward H. Floyd, and wife Cher, of Plymouth, Vt., and Cheryl J. Moyer, and husband Teague, of Killingworth, Conn., along with two great-nieces and five great-nephews: Julia, Nelson, and his wife Molly, Samuel, Morgan, Andrew, and his wife Jessica, Lauren, and Steven.

Visitation will take place Friday, September 11, 2015 from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at the same First Presbyterian Church in Glens Falls.

A memorial service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. John Barclay, pastor, officiating.

Friends are invited to join the family for a gathering to celebrate Teresa's life at the Queensbury Hotel at 12:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to charity.
