Queensbury – Thelma J. Sherman, 66, of The Cedars, passed away peacefully Friday, April 25, 2014 at her home.

Born June 5, 1947 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Eleanor (Johnson) Harris and the late George A. Harris.

In addition to her father, Thelma was predeceased by her brother, George Harris.

Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Eleanor Harris; one son, Robbie Harris (Teresa) of San Jacinto, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Rob Harris, Nakita Valentine, Maggie and Gavin Ferguson, and Haylee, Hayden, and Hannah Harris; a brother, Virgil (Sheila) Harris; her sisters, Marjorie Dresser (Jay) Cummings, Ruth (Dale) Walker, and Marie (Robert) Williams; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A gifted seamstress, Thelma worked at the Troy Shirt Factory, Embassy Shirt, and CB Sport. Thelma was retired from Travelers Insurance yet also worked at Wal-Mart.

She enjoyed baking and sharing her treats and was also wonderful at one stroke painting.

A past member of West Glens Falls Vol. Fireman's Woman's Auxiliary for many years, Thelma was also a past member and Elder of the West Glens Falls Chapel for 10 years. More recently, she attended Gateway Pentecostal Church.

Thelma faced life's trials with strength, determination, and a sweet spirit. Her sense of humor and quick wit were a joy to all that she shared her life with.

Calling hours will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury.

A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Wade Petteys officiating.
