The Reverend Theodore Alan McConnell, (Ted), passed on November 7, 2024, after a brief illness.
Ted was born on February 23, 1938, in Burlington Iowa, the son of John R. and Helen G. McConnell.
Ted graduated from Burlington High School in 1956, from Grinnell College in 1960, from Yale Divinity School in 1963, and then earned a Master's degree at the Episcopal Theological School in 1965.
Ted was ordained in the United Church of Christ in Iowa during 1963 then subsequently in the Episcopal Church in Massachusetts during 1965. Ted went on to serve as an associate pastor of churches in New Britian, CT, Cambridge, MA, and Sparkill, NY.
Ted served as a priest at St. Trinity's Episcopal Church in Moreau, NY and St. Peter Episcopal Church in Arlington, VA.
Thanks to Ted's vast educational background, he was an editor for several religious publications, including UCC Press, Pilgrim Press, Seabury Press, and was an editorial director for Morehouse publishing.
Ted had an amazing photographic memory and wrote four books, including: The Shattered Self, Finding A Pastor, The Great Fleeceman, and Success And The Clergy".
Ted was preceded in death by his first and second wives, Ruth Morse McConnell and Molly Cochran McConnell.
His survivors include stepsons, Paul, Steve, and Thomas Allen; and stepdaughters, Nancy and Lucy Jordan.
