Obituary

QUEENSBURY, N.Y. – Therese Dufort Collyer, 97, of Queensbury, passed away into the arms of the Lord on March 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Born December 26, 1926, in Montreal, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Oliver Dufort and Catherine Mary (Potvin) Dufort.

Therese was educated in Montreal at St. Augustine of Canterbury and later graduated from the Villa Marie Convent.

On April 7, 1947, Therese married her loving husband, Kenneth J. Collyer, who passed away on May 11, 1978, after 31 years of marriage.

In addition to her husband, Therese was predeceased by her son, Peter B. Collyer, and son-in-law, Stephen J. Philo.

Those left to cherish her memory are her brother Paul Dufort of Toronto, Canada; her daughter, Virginia Philo of Queensbury; sons, Kenneth Collyer, Jr (Mary) of Queensbury, Michael Collyer (Louise) of London, England, Stephen Collyer (Jan) of Modesto, California, Mark Collyer (Debi) of Queensbury, Paul Collyer (Jan) of Buckeye, Arizona, Chris Collyer (Kristine) of Saratoga, and Jeff Collyer (Mary) of Westfield, Indiana; her special granddaughter and caregiver, Colleen Kroeze, of Glens Falls; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

At the request of Therese, there will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Church, 62 Warren Street, Glens Falls, on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, South Glens Falls, NY at a later date.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Glens Falls Hospital, Tower 3, and Holly, Joanne, and Jaime of High Peaks Hospice for their caring and compassion.
