QUEENSBURY --- Rev. Thomas "Tom" Boghosian, 85, of Queensbury, died March 23, 2015 at Glens Falls Hospital with his family gathered around him.
Tom was born on Nov. 18, 1929 Troy, N.Y. to the late Adam and Nevart Boghosian.
He graduated from Houghton College in 1951 where he earned a B.A. and was ordained in 1953.
Tom married Vera Redmond on Sept. 13, 1952 in Glens Falls, N.Y.
As a Wesleyan pastor for 62 years, he served churches in the ENY/NE and Central N.Y. districts including founding the Kirkville Community Church in Syracuse, N.Y. He also served as Protestant Chaplain at Syracuse University, President of Houghton Academy and as Chaplain at Great Meadows Prison. Retiring from full time ministry in 1991, he later served as Assistant Pastor in the Free Methodist Church in Warrensburg, N.Y.
Tom's passions were his faith, his family, and people. He was well known for his great sense of humor, story-telling and was the "life" of many parties and gatherings.
While the family lived in many communities through the years, "home" was the cottage on Brant Lake where Tom and Vera entertained and enjoyed countless family and friends for over 50 years. Snowbirds in the winter time, Tom and Vera enjoyed 22 years at the Wesleyan Village in Brooksville, Florida where they were surrounded by many friends, old and new.
Tom is survived by his wife, Vera, of 62 years; his 4 children, Thomas (Cathleen) of Ballston Spa, Daniel (Deborah) of Gansevoort, Bruce (Pamela) of Galway and Dianne (Alan) Freestone of Saratoga Springs; 11 grandchildren: Jordan (Nicole) and Elizabeth Boghosian, Brooke and Katlyn Boghosian, Melissa, Brandon, and Darian (Cynthia) Boghosian, Chelsea (William) Smallridge and Justin Freestone; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Marian (Harry) Koshgarian; sister-in-law, Beatrice; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Tom was predeceased by a brother, Vorton Boghosian.
A celebration of Tom's life will be held on Thursday April 2, 2015 at 4:00 PM at the Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home on Lafayette St. in Queensbury.
Family and friends are invited to greet the family from 2:00 – 4:00 PM.
