Obituary

BOLTON LANDING- Thomas Kevin Conerty, 71, passed away December 24, 2015 after a long illness.

He was born on April 4, 1944 in Troy, the son of the late Richard Kevin and Malvina Emma (MacDuff) Conerty.

Tom married Kathleen (Moore) Conerty of Watertown, NY, on June 11, 1966.

Tom was a 1962 graduate of Bolton Central School, and a 1966 graduate of St. Michael's College, Winooski, VT.

From 1966 to 1980, Tom taught biology, chemistry and physics at Bolton Central School. During his teaching years, he was the Boys Junior Varsity Basketball coach. Throughout his college and teaching years, he was employed in the summer months at the Lake George Steamboat Company as a pilot and Captain. In 1980 he left teaching to join the Lake George Steamboat Company full-time. While there, he served as pilot and Captain of the MV Mohican, the MV Ticonderoga, and the MV Lac du Saint Sacrament. His career with the Lake George Steamboat Company spanned 53 years.

Tom served the hometown he loved in several different ways. He was a volunteer fireman, serving as Secretary of the Bolton Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He was a Town Board member and Deputy Supervisor of the Town of Bolton. Tom served on numerous local boards and committees, to include the Bolton Free Library Board, the Bolton Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, and the Board of Assessment Review. He was also the Chairman of the Bolton Stormwater Committee, which provided important environmental protections for the lake.

In 1999 he was appointed to the Lake George Park Commission (LGPC), serving from 2005 to 2014 as the Vice Chairman. He also served on the LGPC Surface Recreation Committee, and was Chairman of the LGPC Law Enforcement Committee.

Tom was always happiest outdoors, and most often could be found hunting, gardening, fishing, or boating with his family. Always ready with a smile and laugh, he was known for giving nicknames to his students, friends, and family alike. Beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, teacher, coach and friend, he will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty, strength, and positive attitude.

In addition to his parents, Tom is predeceased by his brothers-in-law Harry Angleson and Fred Ruepp.

Tom is survived by his wife Kathleen (Moore) Conerty; daughters Sarah Conerty Jordan (Thomas) and Rebecca Conerty Cooper (Victor). He was the beloved Pop to four grandchildren; Sean and Samantha Jordan, and Nathan and Daniel Cooper. He is also survived by his sister Karen Conerty Angleson, and his nephews John Angleson (Lisa) and Joseph Angleson (Jessica). In addition, he is survived by his mother-in-law Beverly Moore and his sisters-in-law; Dawn Moore, Monica McGaughey (Michael), Billie Ruepp, Sally Mortellaro (Tony), Linda Cox, BJ Carpenter (Lee), Kelly Bresett and Debe Moore; and his brother-in-law; William Moore (Laura), as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the entire staff of the C.R. Wood Cancer Center, in particular his medical team of Dr. J. Stoutenburg, Dr. V. Cooper and Dr. B. Smead.

Tom's wish to die at home surrounded by his family was achieved with the support of the professional and caring assistance of High Peaks Hospice.

Relatives and friends may join the family in a celebration of Tom's life at the Bolton Community Center on Wednesday, December 30th. The family will receive visitors from 10:00am to 12:00pm, and a formal service will begin at 12:00pm. Memories and refreshments will be shared following the formal service.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
