QUEENSBURY --- Thomas R. Staunches Sr., 73, of Ohio Ave., passed away after a brief illness, Monday, Sept. 17, 2018 with his loved ones by his side.
Born in Fort Ticonderoga on Nov. 7, 1944, he was the son of Jerome F. Staunches Sr. and Edith M. (Knights).
Thomas attended Moriah Central School.
He was a Mason with Laborers Union for many years.
On December 31, 1977 in Glens Falls, he married the love of his life Jenny (Smith).
Some of his enjoyments included fishing, horseshoes, playing cards, and gambling.
In addition to his parents, Thomas was predeceased by brothers, Jerome Staunches Jr., Robert Staunches, and Leo Staunches; sisters, Joan Thomas and Gloria Swinton; and in-laws, Asa Smith, Melvina (John) Sawn, Frank (June) Smith, Johnny Smith, and Dewy Smith.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jenny Staunches; children, Thomas (Gosia) Staunches Jr., Audrey Staunches, Robert (Susan) Williams, and Henry (Colleen) Williams; his children from his previous marriage, Scott (Tammy) Staunches, Mark (Meghan) Staunches, and Melissa Staunches; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; sisters, Geraldine Yasment, Nancy (Dave) Bell, Susan (Lee) Swinton, and Mary (Terry) Hobbs; brothers, Edward Staunches, and David (Cindy) Staunches; brother-in-law, Wyman Swinton; in-laws, Bill (Dale) Smith, Leland Smith, Halsey (Nancy) Smith, Edward (Cathy) Smith, Gert (Irving) Shippe, Donna (Allen) McCabe, Louis Smith, and Sharron Smith; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and friends, Dick Oullette and his son, Norman (Barbara) Oullette.
Calling hours will take place Friday, Sept. 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.
A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Flossie Gage Bates officiating.
Interment will follow at Pine View Cemetery.
