FUNERAL NOTICE UPDATE - A graveside service with for Valencia Choppa will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at St. Mary's Cemetery in South Glens Falls.

WARRENSBURG --- Valencia M. Choppa, 88, most recently a resident of Countryside Adult Home in Warrensburg, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2017.

Born Aug. 18, 1928 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Caroline (Fusco) Cioppa.

Val graduated high school from St. Mary's Academy in 1947.

For forty-three years, she was a dedicated clerk for Glens Falls Insurance Company prior to her retirement. Most recently, she was a member of Glens Falls Senior Citizens.

Some of her enjoyments included bowling, golfing, cooking, and shopping. She also enjoyed being outside and planting flowers. Val loved traveling and was able to tour Europe, including France, Germany, Norway, and even Italy, where she saw the Pope.

In addition to her parents, Valencia was predeceased by her three sisters, Mary and Flora Choppa, and Yolanda Morris; and three brothers, John, Michael, and Ralph Choppa.

Survivors include extended family members and dear friends.

A funeral service will take place 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 16 at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804, with the Rev. Guy A. Childs officiating.

Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in South Glens Falls in the spring.
