Obituary

VIRGINIA --- Veronica "Ronnie" Batease, age 89, of Richfield Retirement Community, Salem, VA, died Sunday, August 3, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born October 17, 1924 in Bakers Mills, New York, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Maggie (Hitchcock) Dunkley.

Ronnie attended/graduated from Glens Falls City Schools and worked at WT Grants for many years.

She married Robert "Stan" Batease March 23, 1945. Together they owned and operated Batease's Woodworking for more than 45 years. Ronnie and Stan were original members of the Community Chapel of West Glens Falls where she taught Sunday School, and directed and sang in the choir. One of the highlights of this time was when she sang in the choir when Rev. Billy Graham came to Albany. She also was also a member and officer of the White Shrine.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one daughter, Sue Ann, five brothers, Earnest, Delbert, Harold, Nelson, and Vernon Dunkley, and three sisters, Beulah Burch, Golda Lawrence, and Nina Weatherwax.

She is survived by one daughter, Connie (Fred) Quackenbush; one son, Brian (Kelle )Batease; six grandchildren, Michelle Higgins, Richard Quackenbush, Alec and Joshua Batease, Johnathon and Brian Baker; several great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Floyd (Margret) Batease; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

An hour of visitation will take place Friday, August 8, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury.

A funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Edward Suffern, pastor of Redeemer Reformed Presbyterian Church, officiating. officiating.

Burial, next to her husband, will follow at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Rd., Schuylerville.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Stacey Just and David Colvin for their kindness and generosity.
