SOUTH GLENS FALLS --- Virginia M. (Williams) Hamblin, 90, passed away Monday, Dec. 23, 2013 at Fort Hudson Nursing Center in Fort Edward, following a long battle with Alzheimer's.
Born August 11, 1923, in Kingston, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Minnie (Norton) Williams.
Virginia had the privilege of being a homemaker and taking care of her family, which she cherished. Some of her enjoyments included gardening and volunteering, specifically Meals-on-Wheels when she lived in Starke, Fla. She also liked to read and paint ceramics.
On her birthday, August 11, 1945, she married Martin James Hamblin at St. Joseph's Church in Kingston.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was predeceased by her husband.
Survivors include her two children, Jeanette Hamblin Sweet of Glens Falls, and Raymond Thomas Hamblin of Gansevoort; seven grandchildren, James Hamblin, Lisa Sweet Gray, Robert Hamblin, Tina Hamblin Bridge, Charles Hamblin, Heather Hamblin Goodsell, and Billie Ray Hamblin; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and her pets.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, Dec. 28, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.
A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with Deacon Bill Bazinet officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fort Hudson Nursing Center, 319 Upper Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828.
