LAKE LUZERNE – Walter Arnold Jordan, 73, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2015 at his home on Thomas Rd.
Born July 13, 1941 in Mineville, N.Y. he was the son of the late Walter F. and Catherine V. (McCarthy) Jordan.
Walter married the love of his life, Sharon L. Richmond in June of 1963 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
For 20 years Walter worked at Finch Pruyn as a wood handler and crane operator.
Walter enjoyed family picnics and sitting on the porch watching the wildlife in the backyard. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He spent many hours fishing catfish on Lake Chaplain with his family and he even coordinated a tuna fishing trip for family and friends at Point Judith, Rhode Island. He considered this to be the trip of a lifetime.
His favorite sports included football, NASCAR, and boxing.
Along with his parents, Walter was predeceased by his siblings, Marion and Robert Jordan, as well as, twin infant granddaughters, Amber and Heather.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sharon Jordan of Saratoga Springs; his children, Merry (Curtis) Springer of Lake Luzerne, Becky (Michael) Thornton of Glens Falls, Douglas Jordan of Hadley, and Valorie Jordan of Schenectady; his grandchildren, Michael, Zachary, Brittany, Jacqueline, Theresa, Joey and Mia; his great-grandchildren, Michael, Dylon, LillyAnn, Xavier, Linnea, Aleta, Ava, and a baby boy due this July; his sister, Christine Skogsberg; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and his dogs, Bear, Moose, Molly, Buster, and Dozer.
Calling hours will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, April 9 at the Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.
A funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Nancy Barrow, pastor of the Free Methodist of Warrensburg, officiating.
There will be a private graveside service for the family.
A celebration of life will be held in mid July.
