Obituary

QUEENSBURY --- Walter J. Watson, 94, passed away Friday, May 12, 2017 after a brief illness at Fort Hudson Nursing Center in Fort Edward with loved ones by his side.

Born Sept. 30, 1922 in Whitehall, he was the son of John W. and Bertha (Galarneau) Watson.

Walter graduated from Whitehall Central School and spent many years as a dedicated employee for Imperial / Hercules / Ciba Geigy.

On Nov. 21, 1952, he married Ruth V. Taylor. They settled in South Glens Falls and lived there over 30 years. In later years, they moved to Interlaken, Florida and spent their golden years there.

Some of his enjoyments included golfing and garage sales.

In addition to his parents, Walter was predeceased by his wife, Ruth V. Watson; a son, Joseph W. Watson; and a brother, Arthur Watson.

Those left to cherish his memory are three children, Walter R. (Patricia) Watson of Bangor, Maine, Rosann (John) Curran of Queensbury, and John E. (Sandra) Watson of Stony Creek; a daughter-in-law, Wendy Watson of Hartford; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

At his request, there will be no public services. There will be a private family gathering at the convenience of the family at a later date.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the caregivers of the S Wing at Fort Hudson Nursing Center.
