Wayne
Barker
Oct 25, 1957 — Sep 4, 2024
Wayne E. "Wayno" "Willie" Barker, 66, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
Born October 25, 1957 in Glens Falls he was the son of Walter and Joyce (Evans) Barker.
Wayne graduated from Fort Ann Central School in 1976. He went on to work for D. A. Collins, McLaughlin's and Harris Logging. He married Mary B. LaBarge on April 11, 1981 in West Fort Ann.
Wayne was a hard worker with a strong work ethic until he got sick. He will fondly be remembered as a stubborn, grumpy ol' man, but that didn't stop him from telling raunchy jokes, or flirting with the ladies. He was quite the character, with a raunchy sense of humor. His favorite quote was "snatch a kiss, or kiss a snatch" after all! Being stubborn, he always had to be the one to drive when traveling with family or friends.
Wayne enjoyed hunting, camping, traveling around New York and New England on his motorcycle, playing pool at the VFW, and watching the Miami Dolphins and NASCAR.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his grandson, Aidan Michael; aunt, Estella Corlew; mother-in-law, Freda Palmer LaBarge Vaughn Shaw; brothers-in-law, Ralph LaBarge, Keith LaBarge, and Gordon LaBarge; and best friends, Randy Tucker and Todd Bapp.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary B. Barker; children, Brandi Barker (Miles Appling), Sonya Barker (Reynold Mabee), and Amanda Barker ("Daddy Dee"); grandchildren, Devin Lefebvre, AJ Morehouse (Kollin), and Willow Barker; sister, Janie LaRose (Ernie Larose); brothers, Phil Barker (Debbie Barker), Richard Holmes (Tracey Holmes), and Eugene Groesbeck, Sr.; also several nieces and nephews, with special mention of Jodi, Julie, Gordon, Greg, Alice, Mike, Dave, Cindy, and Cathy; pets, Zeus, Maple, and Cali; and friend, TJ DeStefano.
Visitation will take place Friday, September 13, at 2 p.m. at 59 Cooper St., Glens Falls, NY 12801. A celebration of life will immediately follow.
The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Cassia at Baker Funeral Home and HCR Home Care.
Condolences may be sent directly to Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804, or through www.bakerfuneralhome.com.
