Obituary

QUEENSBURY --- Wendy Ann Berry, 49, of John St., passed away with her loved ones by her side on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Glens Falls Hospital after a courageous battle with Addison's Disease.

Born in Glens Falls on December 18, 1968, she was the beloved daughter of John B. and Jacqueline (Higgins) VanDerwarker.

Wendy graduated Queensbury High School, Class of 1987, as well as a 1992 graduate of Castleton State College in Vermont.

On July 24, 1992 she married Michael J. Berry Sr. at Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation in Queensbury.

For many years, she worked as a substitute teacher in the local area. Wendy worked with children at World Class Kids after her children were born, until her illness prevented her to continue working.

Children were the light of her life, especially her own son and daughter! She was very family oriented and always saw the best in everyone. Wendy was the most selfless person her family has ever known, always putting everyone's needs above her own.

She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Elwin and Frances Higgins; paternal grandparents, John T. VanDerwarker, Gladys (Benton) VanDerwarker and Ila C. VanDerwarker; aunt, Joann Paquin; and her husband's parents, Gerald P. Berry Sr. and Mildred (Day) Berry.

Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Michael J. Berry Sr.; two children, Michael J. Berry Jr., and Allison M. Berry; her parents, John B. and Jacqueline (Higgins) VanDerwarker; sister, Kimberly D. (Robert) Wing and their children, Peyton, Evan, and Mason; brothers, Darren J. (Michelle) VanDerwarker and their children, Aaron and Paige, and Brett W. (Barbara) VanDerwarker and their children, Leah, Lauren, and Sierra; aunts and uncles, John (Jan) Higgins, Barbara Ross (Dave Norton), Alma (James) Whitney, Donna (Richard) Spring, Sue Ellen (Lawrence) Buchanan, Ronald (Denise) VanDerwarker; also several sisters- and brothers-in-law, and nieces and nephews in Auburn, N.Y. who she loved dearly, as well as many cousins and friends.

Calling hours will take place Monday, August 27, from 10 a.m. to noon at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 1 p.m. at Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation, Aviation Rd., Queensbury, with the Rev. Joseph Busch, Pastor, officiating.

A graveside service will be private at the convenience of the family at Pine View Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Kirsten Krywy and Courtney Conte, her cousins, and Peggy Randall and Michelle Bergerstock, her sisters-in-law, and Lynne Duffany, her very best friend, as well as doctors and nursing staff at Glens Falls Hospital ICU, and the nursing staff on 3W for their continuous love and compassion during this difficult time.
