William E.
"Bill" Fitzgerald
Oct 31, 1947 — Jan 13, 2022
GLENS FALLS — William E. "Bill" FitzGerald III passed away unexpectedly at his home in Glens Falls, New York on January 13, 2022. He was 74 years old.
Born October 31, 1947, he was the son of William E. FitzGerald Jr. and Patricia Ann (Campbell).
After graduating from the Milne School in Albany, N.Y., Bill moved to Flagstaff, Arizona to attend Northern Arizona University. He graduated with a degree in Psychology with a minor in Communications. Bill was involved in many extracurricular activities like theater, the school news, and even hosted an NAU Radio Show.
After college, Bill began a career in television in the Capitol District. He continued his career in television as an on-air personality doing weather and anchoring in Evansville, Indiana, as well as Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Charleston, South Carolina. He then moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he reported for Channel 3. Bill's career later shifted when he began working at the Maricopa County Attorney's Office where he served as the Public Information Officer for over 25 years. At MCAO, Bill was highly respected and was very passionate about his job.
In his free time, Bill loved to take photos and videos everywhere he went. He was incredibly skilled with his camera and will be remembered by many as the man behind the camera. Once he moved to Glens Falls, he volunteered at Kensington Road Elementary School where he was an in-class aid for Carrie Krogmann, his niece, and Cindy Fearman in their first-grade classes. He loved to watch her classes learn and create for over 5 years. Bill also enjoyed taking vacations with his family, especially going to Disneyland where he shared many special memories with his daughters, Liz and Katherine.
Bill was also known as a friend to all. He was a very funny man who greatly enjoyed having conversations with anyone about absolutely anything. Bill loved people and he was deeply loved by many.
Survivors include his children, Liz FitzGerald (Ethan McNeely), Katherine FitzGerald Schembri (Daniel Schembri), and their mother, Ann Stuckey FitzGerald; his dear sister, Tricia MacElroy (Dennis MacElroy). Bill loved all his nieces and nephews, Carrie Krogmann (Jason, Lyla, and Mia Krogmann), Tara Clark (Dylan and Myers Clark), Jen Irby (Ben, Kate, and Jax Irby), Kristi Gunning (Lexi and Jake Medrano), and Patrick Welty (Laura, Roman, and Isla Welty).
At the family's request, there will be no service at this time. There will be a celebration of his life in Lake George this summer for friends and family.
