Glens Falls, NY - William H. Cooper passed away January 31, 2026, after a brief illness.
Bill was born on February 23, 1947, in Oswego, NY the son of Willard Cooper and Mildred (Quonce) Cooper Howard.
Bill graduated from Oswego High School in1965, then went on to enlist in the US Navy where he served for 4 years during the Vietnam War. He then returned to Oswego, and with the support of the GI Bill, he graduated from Oswego State College. A life long patriot, in 1978 Bill enlisted in the US Navy SeaBees Reserves for 30 years using his skills to construct and support Navy projects.
An educator at heart, Bill taught for nearly 40 years in several school districts completing his final 20 years in the Saratoga School District as an Industrial Arts teacher. Bill continued to teach his grandchildren at any opportunity that he had.
In 1972 he married a woman he adored, Regina Cappella in Oswego, NY. Bill and Regina lived in Auburn, NY then moved to Glens Falls in 1977, residing there for 48 years.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, Willard and Mildred Cooper; brothers, Robert and Donald Cooper.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Regina Cooper, his daughter, Anita Caci of Florida, her son, Michael Conklin, great-grandchildren, Trevor and Regan; son, Joseph Caci of Andover, MA, and daughter, Jennifer Ubaldino of Concord, MA, her children, Cara Ubaldino and Cooper Ubaldino; sister, Dorothy Lovecchio (Len) of Auburn, CA; sister-in-law, Patricia Cooper of PA,; several nieces, nephews, and his beloved granddog, Poppy.
Bill was always eager to learn and had many interests, including photography, woodworking, gardening and more. An avid reader and lover of history, Bill was often found reading several books at once, especially about WWII. His visits to a museum lasted for hours and produced dozens of photos. Bill loved to garden and grew many vegetables and flowers in his city garden. He served at Assistant Scout Master of Troop 4 in Glens Falls for more than a decade. He enjoyed the great outdoors, going camping, canoeing, hiking with the Scouts and his family. Bill also served on the vestry at both the Church of the Messiah in Glens Falls, and St. John's Episcopal Church in Auburn.
Relatives and friends may call Saturday, February 7, 2026, 10:00am – 12:00pm with a funeral home service at 12:00pm at Baker Funeral Home 11 Lafayette St. Queensbury, NY 12804.
